REGROUP

Our aim is to gain a highly improved understanding of how precipitation is reflected in soils in Europe. This will be achieved through using a sample set from Chernozem soils from the Middle Danube Basin in Serbia, where the mean annual precipitation and temperature is best documented from various observation sites. Samples are available already.

In this proposal, we will address the research question, if a multi-proxy dataset of soil properties can explain precipitation patterns much better than magnetic susceptibility data alone.

To achieve this, we will create such a multi-proxy dataset and apply established multivariate statistical methods.
